History of Twitter 

Twitter was found by four guys. Evan Williams, Noah Glass, Jack Dorsey, and Biz Stone. When the boys created twitter they did have big plans for it. They did not expect Twitter to become as popular as it is. Twitter started out as a blogging site for people and also for podcasting. They are held in San Francisco, California. When they first created Twitter they were trying to find a way to send text messages through their phones. On March 21, 2006 Jack twitted "Just set up my twttr".

In 2012 almost 1 million accounts were added to Twitter every day. It took 3 years, 2 months, and 1 day to get to the billionth tweet. Today it take uses a week to send out 1 billion tweets. On average a person on Twitter will tweet at lest 307 times. In 2012 it brought an 800% increase in top TV shows because people will tweet about it which their follows will check out the show. Today shows like Pretty Little Lairs, The Vampire Diaries, and Switched at Birth have hash-tags that they put at the top of the screen and the person watching can tweet to the people watching it too and the people playing in the show. 75% or three out of four heads of government are using Twitter. That's an' increase than most people would think. 

Twitter is not just know for the tweets with words and pictures. The tweets that have video links get 5 times more engagement then normal tweets. There are over 20 million fake twitter accounts. That is why they can verify you. To be verified you have to be well know. You have to have been using your twitter for a long amount of time. And you also, have to tweet a lot more than you would think. Another way that people can get verified is that they link their Twitter on other social things such as a YouTube video, Facebook post, Instagram bio. Twitter has many ways to get verified and help people find you. 

Twitter was more than just a friend telling you about their day. No it has now turned into a social media, politics, and business platform. Loads of celeberties, like Rianna, Justin Bieber, and Justin Timberlack have all been on twitter for a long time. Twitter has grown so much in the last six years that so many people use it for different things. Twitter is a site that many people use for many different things, such as famous people, YouTuber's, "normal people", and many others.

Today Twitter now has over 200 million people using it. The people who use twitter need something to do. Many people say it's better than Facebook or Instagram. 460,000 accounts are being created a day. There is 140 million tweets a day. Also, the company only has eight workers in 2008. But now they have 400 and still want more people to work. People who are working for Twitter make a lot of money. Twitter is the most popular social media along with Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. They get to help manage the tweets and make sure that they aren't bad. People do put their lifes on the internet and Twitter is the most used. For example, finding out that Zayn left One Direction. People all over find things our through social media.

China is the most used country for using Twitter. They have over 35 million people that use twitter. Over 241 million active monthly users every month. 184 million monthly active on mobile. People usually use Twitter on their phones because it's right there and why not. 170 million+ of people using Twitter per month. Lots of people spend lots of time on Twitter. I do and so do a lot of my friends. It creates a habit that many people don't want to break. The YouTube account on Twitter is the most account with followers. They have more than 40 million followers. Twitter has the most market cap of about 27 billion.
